SOUTHERN PLAINS AND TEAM NEW MEXICO!
Team New Mexico Recently took a team of 43 athletes to compete at the USA Southern Plain Regionals in Hays, Kansas.  This tournament is an annual event that attracts many elite athletes from the region.  NMJW would like to congratulate all of our athletes throughout the State of New Mexico who traveled with USA NM Director, Loren Vigil and Team Organizer, Eddie Gallegos for this great and competative Tournament.

TEAM NEW MEXICO MAKES US PROUD!
Team New Mexico traveled to Danville, Illinois on March 26th to compete in the USA Middle School Duals.  The team of 17 athletes competed on Saturday and Sunday and eventually captured the 4th place Trophy in the Silver Bracket.

SETH WRIGHT, FIRST EVER! NCAA National Champion   New Mexico Highlands University's own Seth Wright made history on 3/13 in Omaha, NE as he wrestled his way to a NCAA Division II National Championship.  This is the first ever NCAA National Championship for NMHU in any sport.  Wright's victory came as he went 4-0 for the tournament.

New Mexico Junior Wrestling works hard to promote youth wrestling State Wide.  The goal is to introduce this cumbersome sport to young athletes so that they will excel and compete at a much broader level in their High School and College Careers.

2. Make your opponent wrestle your style. Force the match and keep him off balance by attacking first and continuously.

1 . Get yourself in perfect physical condition. Work hard to build up your body, eating right, and get the proper rest. Even though major away competitions are fun, get to bed early the night before a match.

2. Pay attention to what the coach says about your opponent and plan accordingly. Plan to use a different initial attack if your opponent has watched you.
