NMJW 2009/2010 STATE TOURNAMENT
The 2009/2010 NMJW State Tournament is approaching quickly.  Bernalillio High School is now the confirmed location for the State Tournament.  Most Head Coaches are aware that it was particularly difficult this season to secure a proper facility for a tournament of this magnitude.  Your requests were in abundance for a more centralized location.  NMJW has tried to accomodate that request.
Annual USJOC brings success to New Mexico New Mexico atheletes were on the move this past Holiday as they traveled the Annual USJOC in Oklahoma City.  The tournament brings wrestlers from the most elite to compete, and New Mexico proved to do well this year.  Below are the place winners from those who attended.

New Mexico at it's best
New Mexico High School
Rio Rancho's Louis Trujillo Jr. signed his national letter of intent to wrestle for the Arizona State Sun Devils.  Trujillo, a senior, will attempt to become Rio Rancho's fourth four time State Champion during the 2009/2010 season joining former Ram wrestlers Matt Ortega, Vicente Varela, and Max Ortega.  "Louis Trujillo has become one of the most dominant wrestlers in New Mexico because of his incredible work ethic and absolute refusal to lose," says Rams Coach Jason Nickal.

Coaches' Corner

1. Don't be afraid to lose, have an offensive philosophy going in, and constantly use a proper attack.

2. Make your opponent wrestle your style. Force the match and keep him off balance by attacking first and continuously.

1 . Get yourself in perfect physical condition. Work hard to build up your body, eating right, and get the proper rest. Even though major away competitions are fun, get to bed early the night before a match.

2. Pay attention to what the coach says about your opponent and plan accordingly. Plan to use a different initial attack if your opponent has watched you.
